We hate ravers. They are the scum of the earth. They are robots, fashion victims with bad clothes, bad haircuts and seriously substandard drugs. We hate skaters. Get a job, quit clogging the streets. We hate Goths. Goth is dead. They can‘t dance because they are too worried about breaking into a sweat and having their make-up run. We hate punks, punk is also dead. The symbols are meaningless in the 90’s. We hate indie kids: face it, morrisery is sad, Robot Smith is a jerk and flares really did go out in the 70’s. That also goes for shoegazers because they are ”sensitive“ pseudo intellectual gits who can‘t dance either. We hate industrial kids and cyber punks. Putting NIN on the back of your jacket does not make you cool.
We hate Metallers, especially fluffy metallers: perms are for poodles, open shirts are for Burt Reynolds and head banging/air guitar gits who can‘t play. We hate crusties: the new age will not be hastened by wandering the streets
with backpacks, dogs on string, dreads and sitting on your arse listening to the Levellers or NMA smoking far too much dope. We hate rap kids: ”Yo Homey“ means something in South Central, it means screw all here.
Most of all we hate collective identity: every day of your pathetic life you are being put in a little box by society by the way you look or the bands you listen to. Collective identity sucks. Be an individual, don‘t make it easy to be dismissed in a sentence.
People try to fit into groups, or fit others into groups. I hate when people call me a poser. I ask them what it is I am posing, and they never really give me an answer. People fear difference. Be yourself. It doesn‘t matter if you are prep, goth, metal, punk, loser, geek, or whatever. Thats a stereotype, and sadly, most people haven‘t grown past seeing stereotypes. No matter what group people fit you into, you are a person. In the end we all have the same fate, no matter how rich or pretty or popular we are. We all die and our bodies rot. What matters is who you really are, and how you act. If you are preppy and act snobby and cruel, you are only being ignorant and letting people box you in a stereotype. The same goes for goths who think they can never be happy. If you are sad you should have a reason, don‘t just decide to be sad so people will think you have a bad life and will give you pity. That also is ignorance, and people won‘t give you pity, they will just not like you because you drag them down too.
People on the internet try to pretend they are older, younger, prettier, more popular. That is stereotypical too. You are trying to be something you are not, to attempt to get people to like you. If they don‘t like you, then you wonder why you aren‘t good enough even when you pretend. And if they do like you, it is for someone you are not and then you feel like they would never like you for who you really are. There is no good way it can turn out. And the pretending preys upon your self-esteem.
Be yourself, when people can see you and when they can‘t. The truth comes out in the end anyway.
